Trump Reinstates Travel Ban: Full Restrictions on 12 Nations

Trump Bans Entry from 12 Countries, Imposes Partial Restrictions on 7 Others Over National Security Concerns

Former President Donald Trump signed a new proclamation on June 4th banning entry to the U.S. from citizens of 12 countries and imposing partial restrictions on travelers from 7 others.



The full travel ban applies to nationals from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

Partial entry restrictions are set for Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. The proclamation will take effect on June 9 at 12:01 AM.

According to White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson via social media platform X, the decision aims to protect Americans from "dangerous foreign actors" and uphold national security.



The White House emphasized that these countries failed to meet vetting standards and pose a "very high risk" to the United States.

This move echoes Trump's previous controversial 2017 travel ban, which affected predominantly Muslim countries and was later reversed by the Biden administration in 2021, calling it a “stain on the nation’s conscience.”
